I see a risk that Sustainability crosses the fine line that separates transparency from bureaucracy. In a recent article on future ESG reporting requirements for businesses, I counted up to 11 acronyms from different agencies and regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development of ESG taxonomies and other legislative frameworks is taking place mainly at a regional level, as it is the case in the European Union. On the other hand, multiple organizations and forums are working individually on the design of tools such as carbon credits or impact measurement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The convergence of this diversity of policies and criteria is inevitable, although it will be progressive and, in many cases, it will remain in coexistence without reaching integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The challenge for companies is, therefore, to make the development of their business compatible with increasingly demanding ESG normative requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This challenge is especially relevant for SMEs, which are very pragmatic and have a sustainable fiber. In the European Union, these companies, depending on their size, may have to report information on sustainability from 2025. In my opinion, two courses of action can translate this need into an opportunity for these companies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Complying with the ESG regulatory framework will be a natural process of strategic and operational enrichment for genuinely sustainable companies, one additional formal requirement for the rest.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Observo un riesgo de que la Sostenibilidad traspase la fina l\u00ednea que separa la transparencia de la burocracia. En un reciente art\u00edculo sobre los futuros requerimientos de informaci\u00f3n ESG para las empresas cont\u00e9 hasta 11 siglas de distintos organismos y normativas. El desarrollo de taxonom\u00edas y otros marcos legislativos ESG se est\u00e1 llevando a cabo principalmente a escala regional, como es el caso de la Uni\u00f3n Europea. Por otro lado, m\u00faltiples organizaciones y foros est\u00e1n trabajando de forma individual en el dise\u00f1o de herramientas como los cr\u00e9ditos de carbono o la medici\u00f3n de impacto. La convergencia de esta diversidad de pol\u00edticas y criterios es inevitable, aunque ser\u00e1 progresiva y, en muchos casos, se quedar\u00e1 en convivencia sin llegar a la integraci\u00f3n. El reto para las empresas es, por tanto, compatibilizar el desarrollo de su negocio con unos requerimientos normativos ESG cada vez m\u00e1s exigentes. Este reto es especialmente relevante para las empresas de tama\u00f1o intermedio (ETIs) y las pymes, muy pragm\u00e1ticas y con fibra sostenible de serie. En la Uni\u00f3n Europea estas empresas, en funci\u00f3n de su tama\u00f1o, pueden tener que reportar informaci\u00f3n en materia de sostenibilidad a partir de 2025.
